Puerto Rico swept past Canada 3-0 on Tuesday at the Aztec Cup women's volleyball tournament.
Puerto Rico earned the victory by scores of 27-25, 25-21 and 25-22. Canada (0-3) will now play in a classification match Thursday to decide the seventh- and eighth-place finishers.
Vancouver's Emily Cordonier led Canada with 13 points on 13 kills while Tasha Holness of Calgary added 10 points (nine kills, one block). Gina Schmidt of Beaverlodge, Alta., had nine points on as many kills.
``Our middles, particularly Tasha, played well, as did Emily, our outside hitter,'' said coach Naoki Miyashita. ``It was a close match and I am a little frustrated to have lost, but our young players are playing well so that is positive.
``We have to catch up to the progress that other teams are making to be more competitive.''
