Canada's two volleyball squads lost to Tunisia and Argentina on Thursday at the Anton Furlani International Cup volleyball tournament.
Tunisia beat Canada 1 23-25, 13-25, 25-21, 26-24, 16-14 to remain unbeaten at the inaugural event at Scotiabank Place.
Earlier on Thursday, Canada 2, made of developmental players, fell to sixth-ranked Argentina 25-20, 20-25, 25-15, 26-24.
``We played fairly well. Tunisia began to serve much tougher as the match progressed which put us in some trouble,'' said head coach Glenn Hoag. ``They gained the momentum back, while we again committed to many unforced errors which cost us. We need to have these types of matches and learn from them.''
Fred Winters of North Vancouver, B.C., led Canada with 17 points, while London, Ont.'s Paul Duerden and Christian Bernier of Montreal each added 13 points.
Tunisia's Hosni Karamosly was the major force for the North Africans with 28 points.
Alex Gaumont Casias of Marieville, Que., spearheaded Canada 2's attack against Argentina with 22 points, with Red Deer, Alta.'s Dallas Soonias contributing 10 points.
Anibal Grameglia led the South Americans with 16 points followed by Lucas Chavez with 14 points.
The Canadian teams exchange opponents Friday evening, with Canadian 1 facing Argentina and Canada 2 taking on Tunisia.
