WINNIPEG (CP) _ Gord Perrin of Creston, B.C., had 17 points, including 13 kills and four stuff blocks, to lead Canada's youth men's team to a 25-16, 26-24, 25-23 win over Mexico at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation youth men's championship tournament Thursday.
Canada now has a 1-1 record and will play in the quarter-final Friday.
Graeme Higgins of Scarborough, Ont., had 10 points on eight kills and two service aces, while Calgary's Ciaran McGovern had two stuff blocks and two service aces.
``It was a great match for us after rebounding from our tough opening loss to Cuba,'' head coach Russ Paddock said. ``We had a solid performance against a tough Mexican team.''
