Canada dropped an 18-25, 18-25, 17-25 decision to fourth-ranked Serbia and Montenegro on Wednesday to finish the first round of the world men's volleyball championships with a 3-2 record in Group D.
The 12th-ranked Canadians advance to the second round, which begins Saturday with the top four teams from each of the four six-team groups.
