Top-ranked Amelie Mauresmo rallied for a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (3) win over Jelena Jankovic to advance to the final of the China Open.
Mauresmo will play second-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova, who cruised to the final with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Peng Shuai of China.
Mauresmo looked on course for an easy win after the first set, but Jankovic, who reached her first Grand Slam semifinal at the recent U.S. Open, made her work hard. Mauresmo, chasing her fifth title of the season, had seven aces in a match that lasted two hours 41 minutes.
Kuznetsova, the 2004 China Open runner-up, is unbeaten in her last seven matches. She won the Wismilak International in Bali last week.
``Peng didn't play well, I think she is a little bit tired, but I am physically good,'' Kuznetsova said. ``In the first set, I tried to make her move and made some drop shots.''
Mauresmo, who has won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Paris and Antwerp titles this year, ended a nine-match losing streak to Lindsay Davenport on Friday to reach the semifinals.
