Amelie Mauresmo was upset by Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova and second-seeded Maria Sharapova pulled out with a foot injury Friday, depriving the Kremlin Cup of its top two seeded women.
Vaidisova, seeded eighth, was one game from elimination before she rallied to win 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3). It was her second straight victory over Mauresmo _ Vaidisova also won in the fourth round of the French Open.

Nicole Vaidisova beat fellow teenager Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-3, 6-3 Monday to reach the second round at the Kremlin Cup.
Vaidisova, a 17-year-old Czech, dominated her 15-year-old opponent, breaking Pavlyuchenkova twice in the second set.
Shahar Peer defeated Elena Bovina 6-0, 6-2, while Elena Likhovtseva won 11 consecutive games to eliminate Maria Elena Camerin 6-0, 6-1. In the first all-Russia match, Vera Zvonareva beat Vera Dushevina 6-3, 6-2.
