Martina Navratilova's last match will be for a Grand Slam title.
Navratilova and Bob Bryan advanced to the mixed doubles final at the U.S. Open when their semifinal opponents withdrew Friday because of an injury. Navratilova has announced she will retire for a second time after this tournament.
She and Bryan were supposed to face Americans Meghann Shaughnessy and Justin Gimelstob in the semifinals, but Gimelstob pulled out before the match with a bad back.
So Navratilova, who turns 50 next month, and Bryan will play in Saturday's final against Kveta Peschke and Martin Damm or Nicole Pratt and Paul Hanley.
Navratilova has won 58 Grand Slam titles in singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. She originally retired in 1994, but returned to the tour in 2000 to play doubles, occasionally dabbling in singles, too.
