Bangkok Open rained out on first day

Top-seeded Marion Bartoli of France and Lourdes Dominguez Lino withdrew from the Bangkok Open on Monday, with heavy rains washing out the first day of competition.

Bartoli, who won her second career WTA title at the Japan Open on Sunday, pulled out with an inflamed right Achilles tendon. Nathalie Dechy moved into the top seed.

Dominiguez Lino pulled out with a right shoulder injury.

Because of torrential rains, two first-round matches were postponed. American Jamea Jackson's match against Melinda Czink, and the match between Emma Laine and Julia Schruff will be rescheduled.
