Baghdatis pulls out of Japan Open

Marcos Baghdatis pulled out of the Japan Open Friday after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.

Baghdatis, who won in Beijing this month for his first career ATP title, withdrew because the right shoulder he injured in practice for the Thailand Open last Friday was still too sore to serve, tournament organizers said.

The Japan Open begins Monday.
