Lindsay Davenport is still waiting to see the WTA Tour do something to reduce the wear and tear on players.
``We've had this problem now five or seven years, where a lot of the top players are always injured,'' the three-time major champion said. ``We've asked for changes. We just keep asking. Hopefully one day someone will heed our request.''
Davenport, the 1998 U.S. Open champion and seeded No. 10 this year, beat Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-4 in only 52 minutes Monday. She didn't appear to have any problems with the right arm injury that forced her to quit in the second set of the final of a hard-court tuneup tournament in New Haven, Conn., last weekend.
``Hopefully, no damage done,'' Davenport said. ``It's pretty much just my arm. Fatigueness, soreness. It just feels really heavy. I've actually never had an arm injury. I think I've had every other injury known to a tennis player, but an arm injury _ it's kind of the unknown dealing with it.''
