Kim Clijsters beat Vera Zvonareva of
Russia 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on Saturday to advance to the final of the Gaz
de France.
The top-seeded Clijsters, in her comeback tournament at home
after being sidelined 10 weeks with a left wrist injury, will defend
her title Sunday against first-time finalist Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
Kanepi, a qualifier, reached the final by beating Michaella
Krajicek of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals.
``Unbelievable,'' Kanepi said of her week. ``I'm in my first WTA
final ever and I have never played a top-10 player before.''
Clijsters is favoured to win her 33rd career title, and third
this year.
When asked what she knew about Kanepi, Clijsters quipped, ``She
is tall. To be honest, when I saw her on my first day of training
here, I was really impressed. I was wondering, does she really
belong in qualifying?''
