Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi will be looking
to win their first U.S. Open doubles title together Saturday.
Bjorkman and Mirnyi defeated the unseeded team of Ashley Fisher
and Tripp Phillips 6-1, 6-4 in one semifinal Friday.
Bjorkman and Mirnyi, who defended their French Open title in
June, have each won U.S. Open titles with different partners.
Bjorkman won the 2003 U.S. Open doubles with Todd Woodbridge.
Mirnyi won in 2000 with Lleyton Hewitt and in 2002 with Mahesh
Bhupathi.
Bjorkman and Mirnyi will play sixth-seeded Martin Damm and
Leander Paes.
Damm and Paes defeated fourth-seeded Paul Hanley and Kevin
Ullyett 6-7 (1-7), 7-6 (9-7), 7-5 in the other men's semifinal
Friday.
Paes, who reached the U.S. Open men's doubles final twice in his
career, has won three Grand Slam doubles titles.
Damm, who was a doubles finalist at the 2006 Australian Open and
1993 U.S. Open, has never won a Grand Slam doubles title.
