Actor-comedian Jim Carrey was one of seven amateurs
to play in the annual USTA Tennis & Educational Foundation Pro-Am on
Friday morning.
Carrey, who arrived at the Open with his girlfriend, actress
Jenny McCarthy, and his personal tennis coach, Stephen Bauer, played
in a round-robin format where all the participants had an
opportunity to partner with six different tennis legends: Grand Slam
champion Stan Smith, former U.S. Davis Cup captain Tom Gullikson,
1990 French Open champion Andres Gomes, Jimmy Arias, Eliot Teltscher
and Anne Smith.
``I'm a fetus in the first trimester,'' said Carrey, analyzing
his tennis ability. ``I miss a lot, but all I care about are the
points I win.''
