Top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia had little trouble beating home favourite Paradorn Srichaphan 6-3, 6-2 Saturday to reach the Thailand Open final.
Ljubicic will face third-seeded James Blake in Sunday's final. The American rallied from a set down to beat former world No. 1 Marat Safin of Russia 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Ljubicic, who reached the 2003 Thailand semifinals, slammed 17 aces to beat the error-prone Srichaphan for the second time on his home soil. He defeated Srichaphan in the 2003 Bangkok quarter-finals.
``I have to use my serves. It is my weapon,'' Ljubicic said. ``I have to win a lot of points from my serves. It is important because it's indoors. James will use his big forehand as a weapon and I will use my serve.''
Blake, who has never beaten Ljubicic, is chasing his fourth ATP title this year.
Safin had a chance to break Blake down 5-4 in the second set, but sent a forehand long. The Russian fought off three set points but lost on another forehand error.
``Every time I play him, it is always tough,'' Blake said. ``When he plays well, I try to raise my game to get close to him. Now I'm feeling pretty good.''
