Top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia outlasted Germany's Benjamin Becker 7-6 (6), 7-5 Thursday to reach the quarter-finals of the US$550,000 Thailand Open.
Third-seeded James Blake of the United States also advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Monaco's Benjamin Balleret.
``So far so good,'' Blake said. ``I'm happy with the way I played and hope to continue like this. Actually I came here having no expectations ... But I enjoy playing on hard court. I feel more confident.''
Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., lost 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 to fifth-seeded Jarkko Nieminen of Finland.
Earlier, seventh-seeded Robby Ginepri dominated crowd favourite Danai Udomchoke 6-3, 6-3 to reach the final eight. The American had 14 aces and overpowered Thailand's Danai with superior baseline shots.
Britain's Tim Henman beat countryman Alex Bogdanovic 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 to book their quarter-final spots.
In other matches, eighth-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand won 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 over Russia's Mikhail Ledovskikh; former world No. 1 Marat Safin of Russia defeated Frenchman Julien Benneteau 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-2; and Germany's Mischa Zverev registered a 7-6 (7), 7-5 victory over compatriot Rainer Schuettler.
