England defeated Egypt 2-0 in the final of the
women's world team squash championships on Sunday while Canada
finished well back in 13th.
Vicky Botwright opened the best-of-three final with a 3-2 victory
over Engy Kheirallah. Tania Bailey sealed the win for England with a
3-0 victory over Omneya Abdel Kawy, who retired in the third game
with an injury.
Malaysia won the bronze medal with a 2-1 victory over the
Netherlands.
Canada defeated Japan 2-1 in the 13th/14th playoff match.
Carolyn Russell of Winnipeg defeated Chinatsu Matsui 3-1, Mani
Nishio beat Runa Reta of Ottawa 3-2 and Alana Miller of Winnipeg
downed Sachiko Shinta 3-0.
