Toronto's Dwayne De Rosario scored early in the second half as the Houston Dynamo rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night.
Houston (10-8-9) broke a four-game winless streak. The Galaxy (9-13-5), the MLS defending champions, remained three points out of a playoff spot with five games left. Los Angeles is coached by former Canadian national team head coach Frank Yallop.
De Rosario broke a 1-1 tie in the 56th minute for his tenth goal of the season. The Canadian national team midfielder-striker secured a loose ball, beat defender Ugo Ihemelu, drew goalkeeper Kevin Hartman away from the net and chipped a seven-yard shot with his left foot.
The game featured a number of current and former Canadian national team players, besides De Rosario, including Vancouver's Pat Onstad, who started in goal for Houston and made six saves. Dynamo defender Adrian Serioux of Toronto also started and picked up a yellow card. Defender-midfielder Ante Jazic of Halifax started for the Galaxy.
The Dynamo had to play with 10 men for the final 25 minutes after Brian Mullan was ejected in the 65th minute for receiving his second yellow card.
Landon Donovan gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when he converted Alan Gordon's soft pass into a 13-yard shot that settled inside the left post.
The Dynamo's Craig Waibel tied the score in the 32nd minute with a two-yard shot off Brad Davis' corner kick.
