Valencia defender Asier del Horno could
undergo surgery to fix his Achilles injury which has sidelined him
for five months.
The Spain left back hasn't played for Valencia since his arrival
from Chelsea for a reported fee of eight million euros (C$11.4
million) in July. An operation would rule him out for another three
months.
``We're going to wait two or three weeks,'' Valencia medical head
Antonio Giner said in Wednesday's edition of El Pais. ``The sheath
of his Achilles tendon isn't working, and if it continues like this
we'll have to operate.''
Del Horno, who played 34 games for Chelsea after moving from
Atletico Bilbao in June last year, was named in Spain's World Cup
squad, but the injury forced him to withdraw.
