Real Madrid scored two goals in each
half to beat Steaua Bucharest 4-1 in the Champions League on
Tuesday.
Sergio Ramos, back from a one-game ban, headed into the net from
12 yards on a corner kick in the ninth minute.
Raul Gonzalez doubled the lead in the 33rd minute from close
range after goalkeeper Carlos Fernandes had blocked a shot by Ruud
van Nistelrooy.
Robinho, starting for the first time this season, beat Klemi
Saban to make it 3-0 with a 14-yard shot that deflected off defender
Dorin Goian.
Steaua, the 1986 European champion, pulled a goal back when
Valentin Badea received the ball five yards out and shot into the
top corner in the 64th minute.
But Van Nistelrooy, on a counterattack, lobbed the ball over
Fernandes in the 76th minute to finish the scoring.
The result left Madrid in second place in Group E with six
points, three behind Lyon. Steaua has three while Dynamo Kiev is in
last place with no points. Lyon beat Dynamo 3-0 on Tuesday.
Steaua striker Nicolae Dica almost scored in the 19th minute, but
goalkeeper Iker Casillas punched the ball wide.
``It was a good Real Madrid today,'' coach Fabio Capello said.
``Today's match helped us forget the last one, and now we are
thinking of the match with Barcelona.''
Getafe handed Real Madrid a 1-0 loss on Sunday, its first in the
Spanish league season.
Goian, the Steaua defender, said his team was outclassed by
Madrid.
``Real proved that it is a great team,'' he said. ``Robinho
played a great match.''
