Betis signs Jorge Wagner

SEVILLE, Spain (AP) _ Real Betis has signed left wingback Jorge Wagner from Copa Libertadores champion Internacional.

The 28-year-old, who previously played for Bahia, Cruzeiro, Corinthians and Lokomotiv Moscow, is Betis's sixth signing since last season.

On Monday, the club sold right-winger Joaquin Sanchez to Valencia for a club record fee of 25 million euros ($35.5 million Cdn) and is reportedly close to trading its Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira to AC Milan.

Betis is said to be close to signing three more players before Thursday's transfer deadline _ Wagner's Internacional teammate, striker Rafael Sobis, together with Borussia Dortmund's Germany midfielder David Odonkor, and Milan's Switzerland captain Johann Vogel.

Betis began the Spanish league season with a 2-1 defeat against Valencia on Saturday.
