Ronaldinho scored twice as FC Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-1 on Sunday and moved atop the Spanish First Division soccer league standings.
The Brazilian scored his first goal from the penalty spot after Julien Escude brought down Barcelona defender Juliano Belletti in the 26th minute. He added another from a free kick in the 40th.
Lionel Messi also scored for the defending champions, taking a pass from Xavi Hernandez in the 81st to make it 3-1.
Escude nearly gave Sevilla the lead in the 25th, but the goal was called back because defender Thiago Motta committed a foul before the ball went in.
Striker Frederic Kanoute scored Sevilla's only goal in the 38th.
Barcelona leads the league with 16 points from six matches, three more than second-place Valencia, which lost to Celta Vigo 3-1 for its first defeat of the season. Atletico Madrid, also with 13 points, is third on goal difference, while Sevilla is fourth and Real Madrid fifth.
In other action Sunday, it was: Villarreal 0, Espanyol 0; Levante 0, Mallorca 1; Real Sociedad 1, Zaragoza 3; Gimnastic Tarragona 2, Athletic Bilbao 3; Osasuna 0, Racing Santander 1; and Real Betis 1, Deportivo La Coruna 1.
David Navarro gave Valencia the lead in the 41st minute, but Celta striker Fernando Baiano equalized four minutes later with a shot from the right edge of the penalty.
Celta midfielder Iriney then sent a shot that deflected off the back of Valencia defender Roberto Ayala and lofted over goalkeeper Santiago Canizares in the 52nd. Fabian Canobbio made it 3-1 in the 56th when his long shot squeezed through Canizares' legs.
Fernando Morientes pulled one back for Valencia in the 63rd and missed a chance to tie it in the 75th when he tapped wide in front of an open goal.
Javier Arizmendi beat three defenders and then Betis goalkeeper Toni Doblas in the 47th, but Robert equalized from the penalty spot in injury time after a handball by central defender Alberto Lopo in the penalty area.
Walter Pandiani nearly gave Espanyol a late win at Villarreal but his header off a corner was called back because a linesman ruled the ball had gone out.
Juan Arango scored the lone goal in Mallorca's 1-0 win at Levante. The midfielder sent a low shot into the net in the 22nd.
Levante midfielder Olivier Kapo was ejected in the 78th minute after getting a second yellow card.
Diego Milito scored two goals for Zaragoza and Carlos Diogo added the other at 10-man Real Sociedad.
Xabi Prieto gave the hosts the lead with a penalty in the 29th minute, but they then were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Diego Rivas was ejected in the 31st minute for a second yellow card.
Milito tied it in the 35th with a penalty after a handball by midfielder Gerardo Garcia, and Diogo made it 2-1 in the 55th. Milito scored his fifth goal of the season in the 59th.
Felipe Melo scored for Racing Santander from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute.
Athletic Bilbao captain Fran Yeste scored two goals, including one penalty, and Andoni Iraola added the other in their team's 3-2 win at Gimnastic.
Defender Josu Sarriegi then scored an own-goal to give Gimnastic a goal, and Ariza Makukula added another for the hosts.
On Saturday, Getafe beat Real Madrid 1-0 and Atletico Madrid topped Recreativo Huelva 2-1.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Martin Petrov ruptured his left anterior cruciate ligament in Atletico's win and will miss at least six months, the club said. The Bulgaria international will have surgery Monday.
