Russia and Croatia drew 0-0 in their first 2008 European Championship qualifier Wednesday.
In Guus Hiddink's first competitive game as Russia's coach, Croatia dominated the first half of the Group E match in front of 29,000 fans at a wet Lokomotiv stadium despite missing three players.
Strikers Ivica Olic, Bosko Balaban and Darijo Srna were dropped by Croatia's soccer federation for breaking curfew at a training camp last week.
Russia's first shot on goal came in the 13th minute and it never really threatened Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa in the first half afterward.
Russia next hosts Israel and Croatia is at home to Andorra.
Also in Group E are England, Macedonia and Estonia.
