Antonio Tonel headed in the winner in the 45th minute and earned Sporting a 1-0 win over Amadora on Sunday to give the Lisbon club a share of the Portuguese league lead with Porto.
Tonel scored from a corner to move Sporting even with Porto on 15 points after six rounds.
Porto beat visiting Maritimo 3-0 on Saturday. Helder Postiga scored a goal in each half and Lucho Gonzalez added a penalty in the 63rd.
Braga was left in third place with 13 points after a 3-0 victory at Beira Mar on Friday behind goals by Paulo Jorge, Wender and Ricardo Chaves.
Italian striker Fabrizio Miccolli scored twice in the first half as Benfica thrashed Leiria 4-0 for its third win of the season Saturday.
Nuno Gomes also scored and Simao Sabrosa converted a penalty to extend the Eagles' lead.
Benfica has 10 points for five games and shares fourth place with Naval.
In other games Sunday, it was: Aves 1, Setubal 2; Pacos Ferreira 1, Academica 1; and Nacional 2, Belenenses 1.
