Fifty-seven Dutch soccer fans were arrested for various offences in downtown Amsterdam before Wednesday's Netherlands-England soccer friendly.
Twenty-seven of the fans remained in custody Thursday on charges of public disorder, chanting racist slogans and failing to identify themselves to police, police spokesman Gerard Vrooland said.
One group was arrested after fighting broke out in a bar in Amsterdam's red light district, which acts as a magnet for visiting soccer fans.
England fans, meanwhile, ``behaved themselves well'' on Wednesday, Vrooland said.
However, police arrested four England fans on Tuesday night for public drunkenness and vandalism.
Police also scuffled with about 150 England fans who refused to leave a bar in the red light district. Two fans were treated in hospital for bite wounds after police used batons and three dogs to help break up the crowd.
Ten English police officers helped Dutch police control the crowds. Two were dressed in police uniform and eight were in plain clothes, acting as spotters to identify trouble makers.
Last year, a Middlesbrough fan was stabbed to death in Amsterdam following a dispute with a drug dealer.
England and the Netherlands drew 1-1, with Wayne Rooney scoring for England in the first half and Rafael van der Vaart getting a late equalizer.
