Luton Shelton and Demar Phillips scored
two minutes apart late in the first half and Jamaica rallied to beat
Canada 2-1 on Sunday, avenging last month's friendly loss in
Montreal.
Tomasz Radzinski gave the Canadians the lead in the ninth minute,
but Shelton's game-tying goal in the 35th minute followed by
Phillips' in the 37th minute put the Reggae Boyz ahead.
Besides revenge for its 1-0 loss on Sept. 4, the victory comes a
week after Jamaica was eliminated from the Caribbean Cup and
CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying, ousted in group play at home by Haiti
and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Radzinski put Canada ahead after collecting a pass atop the
penalty area from Rob Friend and beating goalkeeper Richard
McCallum, a replacement for the injured Shawn Sawyers.
Despite Canada dictating play, Jamaica tied the game when Shelton
finished off a left-sided cross from Phillips.
The winner came after midfielder Jermaine Hue beat four defenders
and played the ball to Phillips, who finished with clinical
accuracy.
