Defender Massimo Oddo scored twice in leading Lazio over Torino 4-0 in Serie A on Saturday.
Atalanta was held to 1-1 by visiting Reggina in the only other Serie A match.
In Serie B, David Trezeguet bagged both goals as demoted Juventus beat Piacenza 2-0.
Oddo scored from the penalty spot in the 55th minute and deflected in a long-range shot 13 minutes later.
Striker Tommaso Rocchi opened the scoring for Lazio in the 48th, tapping in midfielder Gabyi Mudingayi's pass from five yards, and earned the penalty converted by Oddo.
Oddo's second strike clipped Torino defender Ivan Franceschini's shoulder to wrong-foot goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.
Midfielder Stefano Mauri completed the rout in the 71st, following up Rocchi's shot, which was blocked by Abbiati.
Alessandro Rosina had Torino's best chance in the 29th, running onto right back Gianluca Commotto's through-ball, but the forward's effort was off target.
``After a poor start to the season, we're back on track,'' Oddo said. ``We've seen the light and are optimistic.''
Lazio lost its first two games of the season but has rallied with three consecutive victories. The Rome-based outfit, docked 11 points for its involvement in a match-fixing scandal, has minus-2, and is 18th in Serie A, three places behind Torino.
Four Serie A clubs _ Lazio, Reggina, Milan, and Fiorentina _ were docked points by a sports tribunal in July for their role in the scandal that stripped Juventus of the last two titles and relegated it to Serie B with a 17-point penalty.
At Atalanta's Azzurri d'Italia stadium, defender Simone Loria opened the scoring for the host in the third minute with an angled drive from close range. Midfielder Giacomo Tedesco tied the game three minutes later with a powerful volley from 30 yards.
Atalanta captain Antonino Bernardini almost won the game in the 75th, but his long-range effort went wide.
Loria's strike marked Atalanta's 1,000th Serie A goal at home since its debut in 1937.
Reggina, which started the season with a 15-point penalty, has minus-10, and is next to last in Serie A. Atalanta is eighth.
In Piacenza, Trezeguet combined with fellow striker Alessandro Del Piero for both goals, heading in the veteran's cross in the 30th minute and deflecting his free kick 15 minutes later.
``The important thing is the win,'' said Trezeguet, who has scored five of Juventus' nine goals in its past three matches. ``We're still a long way behind but we're on the right road.''
Juventus is last in Serie B with minus-4 points, and next hosts league leader Brescia on Oct. 8.
