Juventus sat back and enjoyed its new second-division status while Serie A leaders Inter Milan and AS Roma were losing midweek Champions League games.
After drawing their season opener at Rimini, Juventus has won three straight, capped by a 4-0 drubbing of Modena last weekend.
``Those of us that stayed are happy because we've realized that Serie B isn't so bad,'' midfielder Pavel Nedved said. ``We're a little like rock stars arriving in places that have waited a long time to see us. We get to see new cities, sold-out stadiums. I made a good choice.''
Juventus was relegated to the second division with a 17-point penalty for its leading role in the Italian match-fixing scandal. The Bianconeri's record matches Brescia for the best in Serie B, but Juve still sits last with minus-seven points.
``It's better not to look at the standings,'' Nedved said. ``Fortunately, there are a lot of games and possibilities to make up ground.''
There are 42 rounds in Serie B, as opposed to 38 in A.
Three clubs are promoted to Serie A at the end of the season, the top two automatically. If the gap between the third- and fourth-placed teams at the end of the season is less than 10 points, the third- through sixth-placed teams meet in playoffs to determine the third promoted club.
So Juventus could finish as low as sixth and still return to Serie A.
``We're on the right path. After Rimini there was talk of alarm. Now they're saying there are no opponents at our level,'' Nedved told the Gazzetta dello Sport. ``Nothing has changed. The only thing that counts is returning to Serie A.''
Captain Alessandro Del Piero will be aiming to score his 200th goal with Juventus at Piacenza on Saturday.
In Serie A, Inter visits Cagliari on Sunday (Fox Sports World Canada, 9 a.m. ET). The Nerazzurri will be looking to put a frustrating 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich behind them.
Inter gave up two goals in the final 10 minutes of Wednesday's Champions League game and finished with only nine men. Inter also lost its opening game in the Champions League.
Inter has performed better in Serie A, where striker Hernan Crespo has been on target with three goals in Inter's last two matches. Fellow striker Adriano, meanwhile, is in a slump. He hasn't scored for Inter since March 29 last season, a stretch of 694 minutes over the course of league and cup play.
Cagliari is winless in its opening four matches.
AC Milan shares the best record with Inter but has only two points after starting the season with an eight-point penalty from the scandal.
Milan, which drew 0-0 at Lille on Tuesday, hosts Siena.
Roma trails Inter by one point and hosts Empoli, which is only two points behind the leader.
The Giallorossi lost 2-1 at Valencia on Wednesday. Captain Francesco Totti celebrated his 30th birthday by converting a penalty kick for Roma's only goal.
Roma has injury problems with midfielder Amantino Mancini and striker Mirko Vucinic unavailable. Winger Rodrigo Taddei could return from an ankle injury.
Nine different players have scored Roma's nine goals in the league.
Third-place Palermo visits Chievo Verona, and both clubs will be playing their second game in three days following UEFA Cup fixtures Thursday.
On Saturday, Atalanta hosts Reggina and Lazio visits Torino.
Sunday's other games are Fiorentina vs. Catania, Messina vs. Livorno, Sampdoria vs. Parma and Udinese vs. Ascoli.
