Juventus won its sixth straight match in
Italy's Serie B and now has two points in 18th place.
Cristiano Zanetti scored the lone goal in the 32nd minute to lead
Juventus over Triestina 1-0 Saturday. The Turin team started the
season with minus-17 points because of its role in a match-fixing
scandal.
``We didn't play particularly well but we won and that is the
most important thing,'' Zanetti said. ``We'll take the three points.
We need them.''
Pavel Nedved set up the goal with a pinpoint cross from the left.
Triestina has eight points and is in 13th place. Genoa leads the
Serie B with 18 points.
Both teams were reduced to 10 men in the second half _ Juventus
in the 70th after left back Giorgio Chiellini was sent off for a
second yellow card and Triestina 15 minutes later when Davide
Marchini was expelled for a dangerous tackle.
Juventus was lucky to come away with the win, with Triestina
going close on several occasions.
Defender Michele Mignani had a goal disallowed in the 36th for a
foul on Chiellini and Giorgio Kyriazis and Francesco Ruopolo missed
from close range in the closing minutes.
Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero remained one goal shy of
200 in his Juventus career.
Juventus next hosts 12th-place Frosinone on Oct. 28.
