Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes he has answered all betting allegations after being questioned for two hours by the Italian soccer federation on Wednesday.
``I'm relieved and also satisfied. It went like it did the other times,'' said Buffon, who was also questioned before the June 9-July 9 World Cup. ``If they had still had any doubts, I think they're erased now.''
He has acknowledged that he gambled on various sports events and non-Italian soccer games, but said he stopped when the practice was banned in Nov. 2005 by the soccer federation.
Buffon's lawyer, Marco Valerio Corini, said the case should now be closed.
``It was a meticulous interrogation,'' Corini said. ``Buffon bet on foreign soccer, but before the new rule was instituted.''
Buffon, who played in Italy's win against France in the World Cup final, met with Carlo Loli Piccolomini of the federation's investigative branch.
