Francesco Totti won't change his decision not to play for Italy again until next year.
Italy coach Roberto Donadoni visited Totti at AS Roma's training centre Monday to try and persuade the playmaker to return for October's European Championship qualifiers.
``Right now Totti isn't returning to the national team,'' Roma coach Luciano Spalletti said, according to Tuesday's Gazzetta dello Sport. ``He has problems with his ankle that he's taking care of.''
Totti broke his left leg and strained ligaments in his ankle while playing for Roma in February. He was operated on and hurried back for the World Cup, but could not perform his best during Italy's title run.
Before Italy struggled in its opening two Euro 2008 qualifiers _ a 1-1 draw with Lithuania and 3-1 loss to France _ Totti said he would not return to the national team until 2007.
After the games, Donadoni said he wanted Totti back for qualifiers against Ukraine on Oct. 7 and Georgia four days later.
Italy has only one point in Group B. Scotland and France lead the group with six points each.
