ROME (AP) _ Italian national team forward Francesco Totti was released from a Rome clinic Wednesday after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury.
The AS Roma captain was on crutches as he left the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
Totti, 29, fractured his fibula and strained ligaments in his left ankle after being tackled during Sunday's Serie A match with Empoli.
He is expected to recover in two to three months, in time for this summer's World Cup in Germany. Totti said he will only play if he has fully recovered.
