LONDON (AP) _ With the Champions League final nearly three weeks away, AC Milan midfield star Gennaro Gattuso is already criticizing Liverpool's style of play.
The tough-tackling Italy World Cup star described Rafa Benitez' side as a long-ball team which was nowhere near as technically gifted as Manchester United, which Milan beat 3-0 in the semifinal on Wednesday.
``All Liverpool try to do is defend together, with everyone behind the ball and just one striker,'' Gattuso told English media in remarks published Friday. ``All they do is play long balls. It is very different to Manchester, who are a real footballing team.''
AC Milan faces Liverpool in Athens on May 23 in their second Champions League final showdown in three seasons.
At Istanbul in 2005, Milan led 3-0 at halftime, but the English club rallied to 3-3 and then won in a penalty shootout for its fifth title in European soccer's premier competition. Milan has six titles.
