Ireland coach Steve Staunton was handed a one-match ban by UEFA on Friday for ``constantly protesting against the decision of the referee.''
Staunton was in charge of his first competitive match when Ireland lost 1-0 to Germany in European Championship qualifying Saturday.
Staunton was ejected by Spanish referee Luis Medina Cantalejo in the 76th minute for protesting officiating decisions.
Staunton will watch Ireland's next qualifying match _ against Cyprus in Nicosia on Oct. 7 _ from the stands.
Ireland is tied with Cyprus in third place in Group D, both teams having played and lost one match. Germany leads the group on six points.
