Former England manager Bobby Robson has
been medically cleared to resume his role as a consultant to Ireland
coach Steve Staunton.
Robson, 73, has missed Ireland's last four matches _ against the
Netherlands, Germany, Cyprus and the Czech Republic _ following two
operations to remove cancerous growths.
Robson, a former manager with Newcastle, FC Barcelona and PSV
Eindhoven, was appointed as an international soccer consultant on
Jan. 16, signing a two-year deal.

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) _ Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane retired from competitive soccer Monday because of nagging injuries that have plagued him the last year.
