Giorgos Korakakis scored a second-half goal Sunday to help Atromitos beat Olympiakos 1-0 and hand the defending champions their first loss of the season.
Despite the loss, Olympiakos retains the lead in the Greek league with 18 points, five ahead of Panathinaikos. The Athens club plays crosstown rival AEK on Monday.
Olympiakos enjoyed early possession but failed to pose a serious threat.
Atromitos had the first big opportunity in the 23rd minute when a shot by Francis Doe took a deflection but Olympiakos goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis cleared the ball with a diving save.
Doe came close again in the 32nd with a lob past Nikopolidis which went narrowly over the crossbar as Atromitos commanded play.
Atromitos scored the winner in the 60th when Korakakis beat Nikopolidis from close range after Roberto Merino slalomed down the left wing.
Olympiakos launched a series of attacks in the final 30 minutes but the hosts resisted well.
Also Sunday, it was: Apollon 0, OFI 0; Xanthi 1, Kerkyra 1; and Panionios 2, Larissa 1.
