Police will double the number of people banned from Paris Saint-Germain's Parc des Princes Stadium in a bid to stop hooliganism, Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday.
Last week, a plainclothes police officer shot two PSG fans _ killing one and wounding another _ after a horde of the club's supporters shouted racist and anti-Semitic epithets following a UEFA Cup match.
Seventy-one people are currently banned from the Parc des Princes.
Sarkozy also said that fan clubs that don't denounce racism and violence will be banned beginning Dec. 1.
``We want soccer to remain a family event,'' Sarkozy said.
Meanwhile, Paris police announced Tuesday the decision to close a section of Parc des Princes where violent fans are known to congregate.
The closure of the so-called ``Red Boulogne'' section _ which has about 2,000 seats _ is to take effect on Sunday for PSG's match against Toulouse, the police said in a statement. It will remain closed indefinitely, the statement said.
