Lyon is so far ahead in the French league, the other teams appear to be fighting for second place.
Lyon is 14 points clear of its rivals and heading for the winter break on course for a record sixth straight title, leaving Lens, Lille, and Sochaux tied on 29 points in the race for the runner-up spot.
``The league is more difficult than last year when, at the same period, several teams were already left behind,'' Lens coach Francis Gillot told French daily L'Equipe. ``Everybody loses points against everybody. Anybody can beat anybody.''
Lille is third behind Lens on goals scored and hosts Saint-Etienne on Sunday. It is undefeated in nine league games and beat AC Milan 2-0 on Wednesday to qualify from the first round of the Champions League.
Replacement goalkeeper Gregory Malicki, a key figure against Milan, will again replace Tony Sylva, who broke a finger last weekend against Nancy and is out until the end of January.
Lens visits Toulouse on Saturday, while fourth-place Sochaux is at Valenciennes. However, Saint-Etienne is two points back and could leap three places to second if it wins on Sunday.
Toulouse has lost just once at home this season while Lens is undefeated in its last eight league games.
Lyon attempts to stretch its winning streak to five league games when it plays struggling Paris Saint-Germain, which is on a four-game winless streak in the competition. Games between the two sides this season have been tight.
Lyon beat PSG on a penalty shootout in July's Champions Trophy, which pits the League winner against the French Cup winner, after a 1-1 draw. It then needed an injury-time goal in October to edge PSG 2-1 in the League Cup.
The champion should be fresh after resting Juninho, Cris, Eric Abidal, Francois Clerc and Sebastien Squillaci for Wednesday's 1-1 Champions League draw with Steaua Bucharest. Lyon already secured a second-round berth.
``We need to gather all our energies to end this year on a good note,'' PSG midfielder Albert Banning said.
PSG is still unsettled following a fan was shot dead two weeks ago after the team's home defeat to Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the UEFA Cup.
``What happened is still in our heads,'' defender Sammy Traore told L'Equipe.
Also Saturday, it's: Nice vs. Nancy, Bordeaux vs. Rennes, Marseille vs. Monaco, Nantes vs. Le Mans, Lorient vs. Sedan, and Troyes vs. Auxerre.
Monaco will be without Uruguay midfielder Diego Perez, who has a groin injury.
Striker Djibril Cisse may be a substitute for Marseille, six months after a broken leg ruled him out of France's World Cup squad. He scored Tuesday when he played 60 minutes in Tuesday's friendly against third-division Martigues.
