Wayne Rooney was involved in an angry exchange with an England fan after his team's European Championship qualifying loss to Croatia.
Rooney's agent said Thursday that the striker reacted with a ``gesture'' to the fan, who had been verbally aggressive. Agent Ian Monk would not specify what the gesture was, however.
The incident occurred when Rooney was making his way to the team bus with rest of the squad after Wednesday's 2-0 loss.
``Any gesture Wayne may have made was directed to one, and only one, particular England fan, whose behaviour towards him appalled the other England players who saw it and horrified the rest of the England fans,'' Monk said. ``Wayne has total respect for England fans. He accepts and understands their disappointment at last night's result.''
The Football Association declined to comment.
