Spurs' Malbranque has hernia operation

Tottenham's new signing Steed Malbranque has had hernia surgery and will out for two months.

The midfielder moved on a two-million-pound transfer last week from crosstown rival Fulham. Tottenham coach Martin Jol said at the time he knew the operation would be performed.

Tottenham will also be without striker Dimitar Berbatov for its game Saturday at Manchester United. He picked up a groin injury playing for Bulgaria in an international match.
