Tottenham signed midfielder Steed Malbranque from Fulham on Thursday for an undisclosed fee.
Tottenham announced the transfer on its website without stating the length of the contract.
The 26-year-old, who joined Fulham in 2001 from Lyon, fell out with Fulham manager Chris Coleman after refusing to sign a new contract and was not even given a squad number for this season.
``Steed is a skilful, versatile midfielder of real quality,'' Tottenham manager Martin Jol said. ``He is a player we have always admired and we are delighted he has come to us, there were a number of other clubs interested. He is a player who can cover the left, center and right midfield positions and will work well within our system.''
Tottenham said Malbranque had a groin problem that's expected to sideline him for around 10 weeks.
He is the north London club's fourth major off-season signing after Didier Zokora, Dimitar Berbatov and Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Spurs had been searching for a midfielder to play on the left of their team to provide balance with England winger Aaron Lennon on the right.
