England coach Steve McClaren will watch six games
in eight days ahead of England's friendly against Netherlands on
Nov. 15.
McClaren has been criticized after England's poor performances in
its last two European Championship qualifiers _ a 0-0 draw with
Macedonia and a 2-0 loss at Croatia. He postponed a trip to NFL side
Seattle Seahawks to study coaching methods to watch more soccer
games.
``You can learn a lot about players when you have them at close
hand in the England setup, but there's a lot of other aspects you
gather from watching them playing for their clubs,'' McClaren told
the Football Association's website on Wednesday.
``It's different football styles and different ways of playing
the game. You can find out so much about players when they come up
against such varied opponents.''
McClaren watched Bolton's 2-1 win over Newcastle in the English
Premier League on Oct. 15. He will also watch Manchester United vs.
FC Copenhagen and Chelsea vs. FC Barcelona in the Champions League,
Newcastle vs. Fenerbahce in the UEFA Cup, Aston Villa vs. Fulham
and, on Sunday, Manchester United vs. Liverpool.
