Manchester United rallied to beat Wigan 3-1 in the
Premier League on Saturday with goals from Louis Saha, Nemanja Vidic
and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Wigan opened the scoring in the fifth minute through defender
Leighton Baines.
But two goals in five minutes _ Vidic's header in the 62nd
marking his first for the Red Devils, before Saha stretched to
control a cross from Wayne Rooney and score _ swung the game
United's way.
Solskjaer eluded two defenders to add the third in injury time _
his fifth goal this season.
The win keeps United atop the standings with 19 points.
Later Saturday, it was: Arsenal vs. Watford; Aston Villa vs.
Tottenham; Liverpool vs. Blackburn; Manchester City vs. Sheffield
United; Middlesbrough vs. Everton; Portsmouth vs. West Ham; and
Reading vs. Chelsea.
Wigan took the lead when Paul Scharner sidefooted a free kick to
Baines, who struck the ball past a diving United goalkeeper Edwin
van der Sar.
United striker Wayne Rooney had a great chance to end his scoring
drought _ seven matches in all competitions _ midway through the
first half. He chested the ball, controlled it and shot on the turn
_ but it hit the crossbar.
Manchester United was without winger Cristiano Ronaldo and
defender Gary Neville, who were both injured while on international
duty last week. It was Wigan's first loss at home this season.
