John Carver was appointed interim manager of Leeds Thursday, a day after the firing of Kevin Blackwell.
Blackwell, who had been in charge for 2{ years, was dismissed Wednesday with the team standing 23rd in the 24-team League Championship.
Carver, who has been Blackwell's assistant, was put in charge for Saturday's home game against Birmingham. He will be assisted by reserve team manager David Geddis.
``The club will not be making any further comment at this stage,'' Leeds said in a brief statement.
Leeds has won only one of eight league games this season. The final blow for Blackwell came Sunday when Leeds lost 3-0 to Sunderland.
