Fulham signed midfielder Wayne Routledge on a one-year loan from Tottenham on Thursday.
He had only played three games for Tottenham after joining in July 2005 from Crystal Palace.
Routledge couldn't displace Aaron Lennon, who represented England at this year's World Cup.
After breaking his foot on the opening day last season, Routledge played two games in December before going on loan to Portsmouth, where he played 13 matches.
``I have admired Wayne since he was a youngster at Palace and always thought he had a lot of talent,'' Fulham manager Chris Coleman said. ``I am glad that we have been able to get him on loan as we needed a quick right-sided player to add another dimension to the squad.''
Routledge is looking forward to playing again.
``This is a great opportunity to get back into first-team football, and especially as it is with a club whose footballing style I have always liked,'' Routledge said.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the loan deal was part of Steed Malbranque's move to Tottenham on Thursday.
