LONDON (AP) _ Fulham was charged by the Football Association on Tuesday over crowd violence that marred last season's 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
During an acrimonious match on March 19, Chelsea's William Gallas was sent off for stamping on Heldar Helguson and Blues players surrounded the referee for disallowing a tying goal.
At the end of the game at Craven Cottage, Fulham supporters began celebrating their team's first victory over their west London neighbours for 27 years but many fans from both teams fought on the field.
Chelsea was later fined 10,000 pounds ($21,058 Cdn) for failing to control its players and now the FA has presented Fulham with two charges.
One charge accuses the club of failing to ensure its fans conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from violent and provocative behaviour. The other relates to failing to stop the fans getting onto the field.
Fulham has until Sept. 5 to respond to the charges.
