Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was moved to a hospital closer to his home Thursday to continue his recovery from a skull fracture.
Cech is ``improving everyday and he is now walking again unaided'', Chelsea said in a statement.
The club said the 24-year-old Czech international moved from the Radcliffe Infirmary near Reading to a hospital closer to London. It did not identify the hospital.
``Everyone at Chelsea FC, his wife Martina and his family would like to pay tribute to the surgeons and staff at the Radcliffe and Royal Berkshire hospitals for the first-class care they have provided over the last six days,'' Chelsea said.
Cech sustained a depressed fracture of his skull in the first minute of Chelsea's 1-0 Premier League win over Reading on Saturday. As Cech stretched out to gather the ball, he was hit in the head by Reading defender Stephen Hunt's knee.
Czech was carried off the field on a stretcher and lost consciousness in the locker-room. He underwent surgery Saturday night.
