A brief look at this weekend's English Premier League games (league position in parentheses):
Wigan (15) vs. Manchester United (1)
Wigan will be without long-term injured defenders Ryan Taylor and Steve McMillan, and manager Paul Jewell will assess the 12 players who were on international duty before determining the rest of his squad. Manchester United will be without winger Ryan Giggs and defender Gabriel Heinze (both hamstring). Midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful with an ankle injury sustained while playing for Portugal.
Arsenal (8) vs. Watford (19)
Arsenal will be without midfielders Freddie Ljungberg (calf) and Julio Baptista (hamstring) and defender Emmanuel Eboue (knee). Left back Gael Clichy returns after recovering from a foot injury, however centre half Philippe Senderos still isn't fully over a shoulder problem. Watford has former England defender Chris Powell back after missing four matches with a calf problem. He'll compete with Jordan Stewart for the left back spot. Defender Clarke Carlisle is out with a thigh injury.
Aston Villa (6) vs. Tottenham (14)
Aston Villa will be without striker Luke Moore until January after he underwent shoulder surgery, which could prompt a recall for Milan Baros. Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen (shoulder), defender Olof Mellberg (knee) and midfielder Peter Whittingham (thigh) are also in doubt. If Sorensen is ruled out, Stuart Taylor will start, while Martin Laursen may replace Mellberg. Spurs has doubts over defender Ledley King (knee) and striker Jermain Defoe (foot), who were hurt while with the England squad, and defender Pascal Chimbonda (calf).
Liverpool (10) vs. Blackburn (9)
Striker Dirk Kuyt is out for Liverpool after hurting his ankle while playing for the Netherlands. Striker Robbie Fowler (back) and midfielder Mohamed Sissoko (ankle) are also in doubt, and while defender Daniel Agger broke his hand playing for Denmark, he could play wearing a cast. Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel is doubtful with a groin injury, with Jason Brown on standby. Australia internationals Lucas Neill and Brett Emerton may be rested after returning from international duty.
Manchester City (12) vs. Sheffield United (18)
Manchester City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver sustained a back injury in Thursday's training and is doubtful. Teenager Joe Hart is ready to step in. American midfielder DaMarcus Beasley is also doubtful with an ankle problem. Defender Micah Richards (calf) and midfielder Stephen Ireland (hamstring) are both doubts. Defender Ben Thatcher is suspended. Sheffield also has goalkeeper worries, with Paddy Kenny in doubt with a hamstring injury. Ian Bennett would start in his place. Striker Colin Kazim-Richards hurt his knee in training, with Steve Kabba his likely replacement.
Middlesbrough (17) vs. Everton (5)
Defender Robert Huth could make his debut for Middlesbrough after Jonathan Woodgate was ruled out with a thigh injury. Huth or Matthew Bates will replace Woodgate. Midfielder Julio Arca returns after breaking his foot on the opening day of the season, and captain George Boateng is also included in the squad after his recovery from a knee injury. Everton manager David Moyes has fitness doubts over defender Nuno Valente (groin) and midfielder Phil Neville and striker Andrew Johnson (both hamstring). Midfielder Tim Cahill may also be rested after returning from Australia on Friday.
Portsmouth (4) vs. West Ham (16)
Portsmouth could play Benjani Mwaruwari up front instead of Lomana LuaLua after two straight defeats. Nwankwo Kanu is also fit to start up front after a thigh injury. Winger Rodolph Douala has recovered from a torn hamstring. West Ham welcomes back defenders Anton Ferdinand and Tyrone Mears from injury, while defenders James Collins (groin) and John Pantsil (knee) are out. Striker Carlos Tevez is doubtful with a knee injury he sustained while playing for Argentina.
Reading (7) vs. Chelsea (2)
Reading should have captain Graeme Murty (hamstring) and striker Kevin Doyle (ankle) fit and defender Ibrahima Sonko has recovered from a groin problem. Winger Seol Ki-hyeon maybe rested after his return from international duty with South Korea. Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is in doubt after sustaining a leg injury in England's 2-0 defeat at Croatia. Midfielder Michael Ballack is still suspended.
Sunday
Newcastle (13) vs. Bolton (3)
Newcastle welcomes back midfielder Nolberto Solano and defender Stephen Carr from injuries. Defender Titus Bramble returns from suspension and loan signing Giuseppe Rossi, a striker, is available after being ineligible for the 2-0 defeat by parent club Manchester United. Bolton could be without striker Nicolas Anelka and Abdoulaye Faye (both thigh). Midfielder Quinton Fortune returns to the squad following a groin problem.
Monday
Fulham (11) vs. Charlton (20)
Fulham defenders Carlos Bocanegra (groin) and Ian Pearce (virus) are available again and midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has returned fit from international duty with Senegal. Charlton could welcome back winger Jerome Thomas (foot) and defender Souleymane Diawara (hamstring). Striker Kevin Lisbie faces three months out after surgery on a shoulder problem.
