Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner has called up two players from the domestic league for European Championship qualifiers.
Bruckner announced his decision Tuesday because injuries have forced him to drop midfielders Libor Sionko of Rangers and Tomas Galasek of FC Nuremberg.
Sparta Prague defender Zdenek Pospech, who has made two international appearances, and Mlada Boleslav midfielder Martin Abraham were selected to replace the injured starters, the Czech soccer federation said in a statement.
The Czech Republic hosts San Marino on Saturday in Liberec and travels to Dublin to face Ireland on Oct. 11.
Sionko, who scored twice to lead the Czechs over Slovakia 3-0 on Sept. 6, has a thigh muscle injury while Galasek has a knee injury.
Also, Sparta Prague midfielder Tomas Sivok is not available due to a muscle injury but no one was named to replace him.
The Czechs have six points from two games. Germany, Wales and Cyprus are the other teams in Group D.
