Serbia's Ratomir Dujkovic has been approached to coach China's Olympic soccer team ahead of the 2008 Beijing Games, according to a report.
The state-run Beijing Times newspaper said in a report on its web site that the Chinese Football Association had made a decision to hire former Ghana coach Dujkovic and was in the process of finalizing his contract.
The newspaper said details such as Dujkovic's salary and what, if any, additional staff he would bring with him had yet to be decided. An announcement was expected by next Wednesday, it said.
Association spokesman Dong Hua said Wednesday he could not confirm Dujkovic's appointment or comment on the selection process. Dong said an announcement about the coaching position was expected soon but he couldn't give a specific date.
Dujkovic, 60, resigned as the coach of Ghana in July for health reasons.
Under Dujkovic, Ghana made its World Cup debut in Germany with victories over the Czech Republic and the United States. Ghana was the only African team to advance to the second round, where it lost to Brazil.
