Moscow to host 2008 Champions League final

Moscow will stage the 2008 Champions League final.

UEFA announced Wednesday that Luzhniki stadium in the Russian capital will be the host, while the City of Manchester stadium will hold next season's UEFA Cup final.

Rome's Stadio Olimpico will host the 2009 Champions League final and the Sukru Saracoglu stadium will stage that year's UEFA Cup title-match in Istanbul, Turkey.

UEFA also considered membership applications from newly independent Montenegro and the British colony of Gibraltar at the two-day meeting of its executive committee.

Montenegro is expected to win provisional membership, while Gibraltar's bid could receive strong opposition as Spain harbours territorial aspirations over the region.

Full membership _ allowing both Montenegro and Gibraltar to participate in competitions _ can only be granted by UEFA's Congress, which meets Jan. 26-27 in Duesseldorf, Germany.
